Reliable idler rollers for bulk handling

Bulk solids are goods in pourable form, such as ore, coal, salt, grain, sand, etc. - make up the largest proportion of goods to be conveyed in the building materials and raw materials industry, but also in agriculture.

The use of modern continuous conveyors - especially belt conveyor systems - enables the efficient and fast transportation of bulk solids in particularly large quantities. The conveying capacity of some belt conveyors can exceed 40,000 t/h. This quantity becomes more "tangible" if you imagine 24 tipper semi-trailers, each with a payload of 27.5 tons, being unloaded every minute.

The belt conveyors are available in various designs and sizes. What they all have in common is that they have an endless circulating conveyor belt, which is tensioned between the head pulley and rear pulley and acts as a carrying and pulling device. The belt is carried or guided by the rollers.

Conveying of bulk materials is particularly challenging for all parts of the machine because such materials have a wide variety of properties and are therefore often difficult to handle - they can be e.g. sticky, dusty, extremely abrasive, corrosive, etc. This places particularly high demands on all components of the bulk material handling machines - including the belt conveyor rollers.

In troughed belt conveyors - by far the most frequently used type of belt conveyors - around 2,500 to 3,000 rollers are used per kilometer of belt conveyor length. Due to the large number of units, the rollers are mass-produced goods and particularly important components at the same time: the smallest changes in the quality of the rollers are immediately noticeable in the properties of the entire belt conveyor.

Thanks to our decades of know-how in the field of belt conveyor roller production, our rollers in coal mining - probably the most demanding industry for belt conveyor rollers - achieve an average service life of over 10 years!
