Reduce the energy consumption of belt conveyors

It can be very advantageous to reduce the energy consumption when operating belt conveyors. In most cases the energy consumption of belt conveyors can be significantly reduced if optimum components are used. In some cases, the savings potential is over 50%. 

Reducing the energy consumption of an belt conveyor you can save the energy costs or use the power-surplus to increase the capacity of the conveyor. 

When developing and manufacturing our belt conveyor rollers, we take care to keep the running resistance of the rollers as low as possible. We check this parameter for each idler roller in our fully automated assembly line. This is the basic prerequisite for energy-efficient and low-wear operation of the conveyor rollers.

The design of the conveyor rollers is also very important in order to keep the mass of the rotating parts of the rollers as low as possible. The use of conveyor rollers with PU support rings in the lower run of the belt conveyor (return rollers), for example, significantly reduces the mass of the rotating parts of these conveyor rollers. As a result, a return roller with support rings requires up to three times less energy for acceleration than a comparable roller without support rings (plane steel). 
In the upper run of belt conveyors, it is possible to use our xForce rollers as carry rollers to achieve a comparable reduction in the rotating masses and consequently in energy consumption. 

Further significant energy savings can be achieved for belt conveyors by reducing the identation rolling resistance (IRR) of the idlers. We have developed special solutions for this, such as the KÜPPER MTS.

The use of our intelligent garland can help you to save up to an additional 13% of energy in belt conveyors with changing load conditions and at the same time prolong the service life of the garland idlers.
