At this year's Chilean conferences “Belt (XI Congreso de Correas Transportadoras)” and “Rápidas y Poderosas (Congreso y Feria de Correas Transportadoras)”, Mr. Arne Wahls, M. Sc., has delivered a presentation on the subject of “Smart Monitoring, Web. 4.0 - Internet of Things (IoT)”.
Ball-bearing damages and the resulting heating-up of rollers can even lead to conveyor-belt fires.
Together with the University of Magdeburg, KÜPPER has developed a smart monitoring system that warns belt-system operators of an impending roller failure at an early stage, which gives them enough time to react.
KÜPPER's "Sensing Idlers" are equipped with temperature sensors that continuously send data to the connected IoT control box. In the event of a temperature increase, the conveyor-system operator receives a wireless alert to his smartphone and can thus react immediately. This prevents unplanned belt downtimes and increases the efficiency of the conveyor system through a higher overall productivity.
